What is hypnosis?
All hypnosis is self hypnosis. Hypnosis is a trance-like state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility, often accompanied by deep relaxation. During hypnosis, individuals may be more open to suggestions as the conscious mind is at rest while the subconscious mind takes in what is being said. It is used therapeutically for the pregnant woman or new mother, where it can help manage pain, reduce anxiety, and change habits.
The process begins by creating a personalized script in advance of our session tailored to your goals for the treatment. The appointment begins with a chat to confirm what you hope to gain, explore your thoughts and feelings around whatever the issue is and settle in for the session. I will then lead you into a state of deep relaxation through various relaxation methods and guided meditation. Using imagery and suggestive techniques, I will help you shift your thoughts and feelings in the way you desire. Hypnosis is not mind control; rather, individuals remain aware and in control of their actions throughout the experience.
*Please note this is not a hypnobirthing course. Treatments are tailored specifically to the clients own needs and can be for various reasons including and/or other than managing pain in labour (as is the main focus of hypnobirthing). If you are looking for a Hypnobirthing Instructor please contact me for a recommendation in your area.
